Crave The Pure!
The weather is getting nicer -- isn't it? We're getting back to the weather where it is easy to work up a thirst. But what would you think of me if you gave me a glass of cold milk or good clean fresh cold water, and before I drank it, I picked up a little dirt and put it in it? I mean, not a lot of dirt, but just a little bit. Would you think I was crazy to put dirt in the clean refreshing water you gave me to drink to quench my thirst? We want that which is pure to be taken in to quench our bodies' thirst, don't we? Why take the dirty or the muddy when you can have the clear, clean, refreshing!
Peter exhorted…
“(1) So put away all malice and all deceit and hypocrisy and envy and all slander. (2) Like newborn infants, LONG FOR THE PURE SPIRITUAL MILK, that by it you may grow up to salvation -- (3) IF INDEED YOU HAVE TASTED THAT THE LORD IS GOOD.” ( 1 Peter 2:1-3 ESV)
Have you tasted how good God is to us? Have you found great encouragement in His promises and blessings of life? God has promised us such good things; so many promises to encourage and prompt us to lovingly obey His desires. We need to be concerned about what we take into our lives both physically and spiritually.
Paul wrote…
“Since we have these promises, beloved, LET US CLEANSE OURSELVES FROM EVERY DEFILEMENT OF BODY AND SPIRIT, bringing holiness to completion in the fear of God.” ( 2 Corinthians 7:1 ESV)
Yes, by doing that we do show God we appreciate all He has provided and show Him the reverence [respect and worship] He deserves and of which He is worthy.
Have a great day BEING QUENCHED BY GOD!
Carl
