Being Fed!

There were the days when everything eaten had to be prepared from scratch. Today we enjoy the convenience of not only going to the store for food to be prepared, but often can find dinners conveniently pre-packaged to heat and serve. Many grocery stores even have a deli where meals can be bought and either eaten on the spot or taken home for the family.

Someone has said, “More and more food is coming canned or pre-packaged -- including food for thought.” [source: 1600 Squibs And Quips”, compiled by E. C. McKenzie]

When it comes to being given FOOD FOR THOUGHT we need to consider the source. Just like food that has been prepared for us, we need to be concerned with how it has been handled; considering what may have been added to it or if it has become contaminated some way. Many ideas today have been packaged in such a way that they may meet the taste of many even though they may not be purely the truth.

Fortunately God has prepared and preserved His Word so that we can check out what others may try to feed us. Remember the Bereans who checked out the Scriptures daily to make sure what they were being taught was true. ( Acts 17:11) It is the “pure spiritual milk” ( 1 Peter 2:2) which we need for spiritual vitality.

Our highest health begins with our acceptance of Jesus and His teaching with regard to how we are to conduct our lives. Jesus, when followed by some of the very people He had fed with the loaves and fish, attempted to lift their gaze beyond a physical meal to the spiritual.

We read…
“(32) Jesus then said to them, ‘Truly, truly, I say to you, it was not Moses who gave you the bread from heaven, but my Father gives you THE TRUE BREAD FROM HEAVEN. (33) For the bread of God is he who comes down from heaven and gives life to the world.’ (34) They said to him, ‘Sir, give us this bread always.’ (35) Jesus said to them, ‘I AM THE BREAD OF LIFE, WHOEVER COMES TO ME SHALL NOT HUNGER, AND WHOEVER BELIEVES IN ME SHALL NEVER THIRST.” ( John 6:32-35 ESV)

From the table Jesus has prepared we can know the FOOD FOR THOUGHT will be good and will bring health to our spiritual lives. May we retain a taste for what He has to offer while continuing to go back to original source of pure truth.

Have a great day BEING THOROUGHLY SATISFIED IN CHRIST!
