Renewed Strength!

There are some things I just NEVER TIRE of. It matters not how many occasions there are I’m glad to have the opportunity again. Today brought one of those experiences. In our area we get frequent opportunities to see bald eagles. Last Saturday as my walk took me out toward one of our area lighthouses along the Strait of Juan de Fuca I saw a bald eagle perched on a branch along a high bluff. Today, as I walked not far from the same area my gaze was drawn upward to watch two bald eagles soaring overhead. I am always mesmerized by the majestic sight of these creatures of God. I NEVER TIRE of lifting my gaze to see them in magnificent flight, unable to help wondering what it would be like to soar along with them enjoying the view they have from above.

Though I was about eleven miles into my walk, having my focus uplifted to view these two bald eagles I felt a sense of renewal as I continued to ponder the sight while I walked on. Every time I see an eagle with its wings extended majestically as it seems to effortlessly glide along uplifted by the currents of the wind beneath its wings, I am reminded of the encouragement provided through the prophet Isaiah.

We read…
“(28) Have you not known? Have you not heard? The Lord is the everlasting God, the Creator of the ends of the earth. He does not faint or grow weary; his understanding is unsearchable. (20) HE GIVES POWER TO THE FAINT, and to him who has no might HE INCREASES STRENGTH. (30) Even youths shall faint and be weary, and young men shall fall exhausted; (31) but THEY WHO WAIT FOR THE LORD SHALL RENEW THEIR STRENGTH; they shall MOUNT UP WITH WINGS LIKE EAGLES; they SHALL RUN AND NOT BE WEARY; they SHALL WALK AND NOT FAINT.” ( Isaiah 40:28-31 ESV)

Perhaps there are times when we find ourselves flapping along as hard as we can to make things work in life when what is needed is for us to wait on the Lord, looking to Him for the strength He will supply as we extend our “wings” in faith to catch the current He provides to carry us along and lift us up. When we try to handle life by our own wisdom and strength it should be no surprise that we feel weary and faint. However, as we walk on with God and seek for His Will to be worked out in our life we can find the strength to run on WITHOUT BECOMING WEARY.

How many times have you found yourself expending much time and energy in a work of the Lord and you felt more of a sense of fulfillment and joy and uplift rather than weariness? May we remember those experiences as we continue to submit to God, waiting upon Him as He continues His work in and through us. Uplifted by His wind beneath our “wings” let us be encouraged by His strengthening that will keep us from becoming weary in doing good.

Have a great day SOARING BY THE STRENGTH OF THE LORD!
Carl
