Powerful Story!
Heard any good stories lately? Recently read any good books? Anything worth reading again and sharing with others? Hopefully your answer is “yes” and though you may have done much reading of various sorts (especially those of you who are students) I pray that the Scriptures and the good story of Jesus were included.
As Luke began his Gospel, he stated…
“(1) Inasmuch as many have undertaken to compile a narrative of the things that have been accomplished among us, (2) just as those who from the beginning were eyewitnesses and ministers of the word have delivered them to us, (3) it seemed good to me also, having followed all things closely for some time past, TO WRITE AN ORDERLY ACCOUNT FOR YOU, most excellent Theophilus, (4) THAT YOU MAY HAVE CERTAINTY CONCERNING THE THINGS YOU HAVE BEEN TAUGHT.” ( Luke 1:1-4 ESV)
When John concluded his Wonderful Gospel, he remarked…
“Now there are also many other things that Jesus did. WERE EVERY ONE OF THEM TO BE WRITTEN, I SUPPOSE THAT THE WORLD ITSELF COULD NOT CONTAIN THE BOOKS that would be written.” ( John 21:25 ESV)
We may read or hear stories which bring a tear to our eye, make us angry, inspire us, etc. Such reveals we have a good heart that can be touched by the words. The Greatest Story ever told is the Gospel -- the “Good News” -- of Jesus. However, unless it becomes MORE THAN A STORY to us it will never have the impact on the story of our life that it should.
The Gospel of Jesus is the Greatest Story ever told because it reveals the greatest love ever demonstrated and greatest hope ever offered for not just this life, but for eternity. It is through the Gospel that “life and immortality” have been brought to light. ( 2 Timothy 1:10) We are called through the Gospel in order that we may obtain the glory of Jesus. ( 2 Thessalonians 2:14) The story of Jesus -- when received and properly understood -- is destined to CHANGE OUR LIFE for good and forever. The Gospel is the power of God for salvation ( Romans 1:16) and life transformation.
God has preserved for us a Great Book (the Bible) that contains the Greatest Story we could ever read again and again. May we move from viewing it as just a story to allowing it to become everything to us so that in view of Jesus and all He offers, the story our own life will be gloriously transformed in preparation for an eternity with Him.
Have a great day KEEPING YOUR STORY POWERFULLY LINKED TO HIS!
Carl
