Living!
Some people measure their life by the things they don’t do. They may be able to list off a number of “sins” or worldly ways they have successfully refrained from becoming involved in. If we make such a list saying we don’t do this, don’t do that, and don’t do this other thing, etc. -- that may be good, but what does it add up to? Nothing! As we journey here on earth we need to recognize how it is a matter of LIFE GOD WANTS US TO LIVE, not merely a matter of a life to avoid. Most often when we read something in Scripture we are to avoid, within a few verses there is instruction of how we ARE TO LIVE. Godliness is not a passive, but rather an ACTIVE LIFE.
Paul exhorted the church at Corinth with regard to living in Christ…
“(14) For the love of Christ controls us, because we have concluded
this: that one has died for all, therefore all have died; (15) and he died for all, THAT THOSE WHO LIVE MIGHT no longer LIVE for themselves but FOR HIM who for their sake died and was raised.” ( 2 Corinthians 5:14-15 ESV)
We did not deserve the gift of Christ on our behalf, but by LIVING FOR HIM we reveal our appreciation for the eternal hope He has provided. We are to live in a manner worthy of the Good News we have received in Christ. ( Philippians 1:27) Our belief in Christ and our relationship to Him is to be demonstrated by a LIFE OF DOING to His glory and praise. May our actions continually reveal the genuineness of a LIFE LIVED IN AND FOR HIM!
Have a great day DEAD TO SIN BUT ALIVE WITH RIGHTEOUS ACTIONS!
