Someday!

“Someday I am going to ....” People have dreams. People have hopes. People have longings for the day when they will “be”, “do”, or “have” something greatly desired. It is such a focus that compels one to press on toward the goal. Should it not also draw the focus toward what is being done today that may impact the “someday” to come?

John encouraged…
“(1) See what kind of love the Father has given to us, that we should be called children of God; and so we are. The reason why the world does not know us is that it did not know him. (2) Beloved, we are God’s children now, and what we will be has not yet appeared; BUT WE KNOW THAT WHEN HE APPEARS WE WILL BE LIKE HIM, because WE SHALL SEE HIM AS HE IS.” ( 1 John 3:1-2 ESV)

Oh, to be like Him and to see Him as He is! Moses greatly desired to see the glory of God ( Exodus 33:18), but God told him that man was not able to see Him and live. ( Exodus 33:20) The full glory of the presence of God is apparently too awesome for perishable flesh to behold. However, John stated the day will come! When we have been changed from the perishable to a more glorious state ourselves (i.e. 1 Corinthians 15:42-44, 51-53) , we shall be able to see God. What our likeness will ultimately be like is presently a mystery. We would probably not be able to comprehend it even if God described it to us now. Nevertheless, whatever it is like will certainly be glorious because it will be like Him.

John went on to point out…
“(3) And EVERYONE WHO THUS HOPES IN HIM PURIFIES HIMSELF AS HE IS PURE.” ( 1 John 3:3 ESV)

PURITY is important. Our God is a Holy God and the only thing which can come into His presence is that which is holy. (i.e. Revelation 21:27) Though God has provided the means of our cleansing through the powerful blood of Jesus, we still must put forth effort to live PURE and unstained from the world in which we live. ( James 1:27) As we live with the hope of eventually being drawn into God’s eternal presence, PURITY of heart and life is to be a mark of us as His children.

Remember Jesus declared…
“(8) BLESSED ARE THE PURE IN HEART, FOR THEY SHALL SEE GOD.” ( Matthew 5:8 ESV)

Jesus’ exhortation toward PURITY was accompanied by the promise of being able to see God. John said, as God’s children, we will someday see Him and to possess such a hope ought to compel us to live in PURITY now. To be like God should be the supreme goal of our life and to someday be able to stand viewing Him in all His glory will certainly be worth the surrendering of our life to His Will today. May this continue to be our genuine longing.

Have a great day EAGERLY LOOKING TOWARD THE DAY!
