On Our Side!

There are times we may feel people are against us. Perhaps there are even moments when we feel the whole world is against us. We encounter people who don’t want to accept our values. We find ourselves colliding with those who refuse to recognize the truth of God’s Word as something that must be reckoned with. We meet those who are unwilling to see how our unchanging God has established a standard that is constant and reliable for all time. We see people around us choosing sides on various issues and sometimes even wavering back and forth between them depending on where they think the majority of people are at the moment. When we encounter this kind of opposition it can become easy to wonder if it is worth even trying to influence those around us. Nevertheless we should never lose sight of the power of light and the salt which is to be the very essence of our life. ( Matthew 5:13-16) Certainly we may often feel like we are paddling upstream, but that is because so many others are simply going with the flow of this world. Let us remember when we feel we are being outnumbered that we are NOT ALONE. The prophet Elijah seems to have had some moments of discouragement (perhaps even a little depression), but God encouraged him that he too was NOT ALONE. (note 1 Kings 19:9-18) God was always mindful of this faithful prophet and there were others who had not caved in to the corruption of the time under the reign of King Ahab and the wickedness of the king’s wife Jezebel.

The psalmist was also encouraged as he remembered the fact he was NOT ALONE!
“(5) Out of my distress I called on the Lord; the Lord answered me and set me free. (6) THE LORD IS ON MY SIDE; I will not fear. What can man do to me? (7) THE LORD IS ON MY SIDE as my helper; I shall look in triumph on those who hate me.” ( Psalm 118:5-7 ESV)

As we continue to seek the Will of God we can be encouraged to know He remains on our side. Understanding His great power at work in us, through us, and for us -- let us not allow the numbers who might oppose overly concern us. Ultimately the balance is tilted in God’s favor. May we continue to remain in His.

Have a great day KNOWING WE SHARE THE VICTORY ON GOD’S SIDE!
