Naked Truth!

When I think of small children there are two things which come to mind that appear to feel quite NATURAL to them. One is trying to run around with no clothes on and the other is just blurting out the naked truth to the embarrassment of their parents or whomever might be the object of the NATURAL observation. Before children learn the importance of modesty or the politeness of tact they just do and say what comes NATURAL. In time children learn about being discrete and polite, but they also unfortunately often learn that just as they can easily cover-up their bodies they can also cloak the truth.

Someone has pointed out that “Craft must have clothes, but truth loves to go naked.” [source: “sentence sermons”]

Perhaps we would all admit that bodies need to be clothed. However, how is it that we handle the truth? Those who deceive find themselves having to dress up what they claim or say in order for it to masquerade as truth. There also arises the challenge of having to remember how statements were dressed up or masked before so that their deceptiveness may not be revealed. To stick with the truth does not plague us with having to remember how we might have fashioned it before, because the truth simply remains as it is. Truth stands just fine in its NATURAL state.

Paul, referring to his life ministry, stated…
“(2) But we have renounced disgraceful, underhanded ways. WE REFUSE TO PRACTICE CUNNING OR TO TAMPER WITH GOD’S WORD, but by the OPEN STATEMENT OF THE TRUTH we would commend ourselves to everyone’s conscience in the sight of God. (3) And even if our gospel is veiled, it is veiled only to those who are perishing. (4) In their case the god of this world has blinded the minds of the unbelievers, to keep them from seeing the light of the gospel of the glory of Christ, who is the image of God.” ( 2 Corinthians 4:2-4 ESV)

God has laid the truth out the way He wants it. It is not ours to tamper with or redress to fit a certain fad or style. Though we should speak the truth in love ( Ephesians 4:15), truth is to remain as NATURAL as it is.

God is the God of truth ( Isaiah 65:16), our Savior is the embodiment of truth ( John 14:6), and God has provided the Spirit of truth ( John 14:17; 1 John 4:6). Being children of God, truth should NATURALLY be the essence of our lives as well. Truth does not change. It can stand on its own. May we continue to share the truth of God in its NATURAL holy state. Therein lies the power to bring needed change to life.

Have a great day KEEPING THE TRUTH EXPOSED TO THE WORLD!
