Let It Be So!

After Israel would finally cross the Jordan into the promised land, in order to keep the commands of God in mind as the settling of the land began, Moses instructed that half of the tribes were to gather at Mt. Gerizim where blessings would be pronounced and the other half of the tribes were to gather at Mount Ebal where curses were to be pronounced. ( Deuteronomy 27:11-13) The purpose of again exhorting the nation to remember God’s promises of blessing as well as His warnings was to encourage them toward continued faithfulness. Following each of the curses the people were instructed to respond with an “Amen.” It was the way it was to be! They were to affirm it by mouth and let it be CONFIRMED by the CONFORMING of their lives.

The twelfth curse was…
“‘Cursed be anyone WHO DOES NOT CONFIRM THE WORDS OF THIS LAW BY DOING THEM.’ And all the people shall say, ‘AMEN.’” ( Deuteronomy 27:26 ESV)

God’s Laws were to be CONFIRMED by the individual actions of His people. His commands were to be CONFIRMED by individual lives being CONFORMED to what God desired. The commands of God are not to be taken and made to fit the life of man, but man’s life is to be made to fit the commands of God. The best CONFIRMATION we can give to the wisdom of God’s Will is for this world to see how our life is CONFORMED to fit His designs and purposes.

Paul expressed it this way…
“Do NOT BE CONFORMED TO THIS WORLD, but BE TRANSFORMED BY THE RENEWAL OF YOUR MIND, that by testing you may DISCERN WHAT IS THE WILL OF GOD, WHAT IS GOOD AND ACCEPTABLE AND PERFECT.” ( Romans 12:2 ESV)

May we also respond with a heartfelt “Amen” to the Will of God, not just verbally, but through CONFIRMING a faithfulness to Him as we allow our lives to be CONFORMED to the pattern His Word reveals. Wisdom is justified (or proved right) by her actions. ( Matthew 11:19)

Have a great day LIVING AN “AMEN” TO THE WILL OF GOD!
