Continual Flow!
Refreshing! Satisfying! Life giving! To such our attention should be drawn. Nevertheless, many are drawn to that which is stagnant, temporary, and life draining. Though some things in this world make no sense, people seem to go after such anyway. And simply going with the flow of the world will ultimately bring disastrous erosion and corruption to our life. What are we drawn to? And even beyond that, what is it that flows from our life? Is it that which contributes or takes away from it?
Solomon noted…
“GOOD SENSE IS A FOUNTAIN OF LIFE to him who has it, but the instruction of fools is folly.” ( Proverbs 16:22 ESV)
Poorer is the one who lacks sense than he who lacks cents and richer is the one who has GOOD SENSE than he who possesses many cents! Would you not agree? There is that which takes from life and that which contributes toward it and many have it all mixed up.
When I think of fountains or springs (in contrast to standing water) I see such as a sign of an endless source from which one can continually draw. Rather than becoming stagnant, the continual flow brings forth what is fresh and therefore life giving and satisfying. However, the word translated fountain here is also one which has been noted to refer to the flow of blood. As fresh water is vital to life so is the continual flow of blood through the body.
GOOD SENSE (or understanding of God’s Will) brings forth life to those who possess it in contrast to the fools who cannot be instructed. As we continue to be open to the wisdom of God -- seeking His Will for our life -- such GOOD SENSE will continue to flow from the heart to the mouth, the activities of the hands, the direction of the feet, and the focus of the eyes so that true life can be experienced.
Let us be sensible as we approach life by continually seeking the Will of God. With our hearts filled with the essence of His Wisdom we will have a continual fountain from which to draw for the abundant life Jesus came to provide. ( John 10:10) It makes GOOD SENSE to allow the Author of life to provide that which will sustain it now and for eternity. May we let His Word continue to fill us within.
Have a great day DRAWING FROM A WEALTH OF GOD’S WISDOM!
Carl
