Ridiculous Response!

“Come on now!” “Ya, right!” “You expect me to believe that?” “You can do better than that!” “What do you take me for?” Those are reactions to responses which seem unreasonable. Time and again man’s faulty reasoning and wisdom are exposed by statements which are made, and the amazement continues as others accept those explanations anyway.

Consider a moment in Israel’s history.
“(21) And Moses said to Aaron, “What did this people do to you that you have brought such a great sin upon them?” (22) And Aaron said, “Let not the anger of my lord burn hot. You know the people, that they are set on evil. (23) For they said to me, ‘Make us gods who shall go before us. As for this Moses, the man who brought us up out of the land of Egypt, we do not know what has become of him.’ (24) So I said to them, ‘Let any who have gold take it off.’ So they gave it to me, and I THREW IT INTO THE FIRE, AND OUT CAME THIS CALF.”” ( Exodus 32:21-24 ESV)

Who would buy such a response? Who would accept such an explanation? If we had been Moses would we have looked Aaron in the eye and said, “Give me a break!”? Could it have just happened as Aaron said? Of course not! Aaron had much more to do with it than that! (note Exodus 32:4) What a lame response! Who would possibly accept that as a LOGICAL EXPLANATION?

As Paul stood in the Areopagus at Athens, he stated…
“(24) The GOD WHO MADE THE WORLD AND EVERYTHING IN IT, being Lord of heaven and earth, does not live in temples made by man, (25) nor is he served by human hands, as though he needed anything, since HE HIMSELF GIVES TO ALL MANKIND LIFE AND BREATH AND EVERYTHING. (26) And HE MADE from one man every nation of mankind to live on all the face of the earth, having determined allotted periods and the boundaries of their dwelling place, (27) that they should seek God, in the hope that they might feel their way toward him and find him. Yet he is actually not far from each one of us, (28) for ‘IN HIM WE LIVE AND MOVE AND HAVE OUR BEING’; as even some of your own poets have said, ‘For we are indeed his offspring.’ ” ( Acts 17:24-28 ESV)

God created this world and universe and is the author of all life! Nevertheless, there are still many who want to claim it all came about by chance or by some cosmic accident. As ridiculous as Aaron’s explanation that he threw the gold into the fire and out came a calf is the reasoning that all the elements making up this universe were thrown together and by chance out came all the order and complexity and design associated with its existence and ours. It just happened? Of course not! Like Aaron’s, God’s hand was directly involved!

The Hebrew writer stated…
“And without faith it is impossible to please him, for whoever would draw near to God must believe that HE EXISTS and that HE REWARDS THOSE WHO SEEK HIM.” ( Hebrews 11:6 ESV)

The God who created us as reasoning beings continues to be faced with unreasonable behavior and responses to what He has done and the hope He offers. However, as the clear evidence is accepted there will continue to be those who are drawn to seek Him as He has desired. The proofs of creation are such that mankind is left without excuse for not believing. ( Romans 1:20) As a part of God’s glorious creation may our life continue to point to the LOGICAL EXPLANATION that He is still behind it all!

Have a great day AS LIVING EVIDENCE OF THE HAND OF GOD!
