May The Force Be With You!
In the “Star Wars” motion picture, written and directed by George Lucas, we have the classic struggle between good and evil. As Luke Skywalker was being encouraged to cross over to the “dark side”, he kept being told, “It is your DESTINY.” Was it? Though the power of the “dark side” was a challenge to resist, Luke refused to accept that crossing over to the “dark side” truly was his DESTINY. However, it would have become his DESTINY had he given in to the force of the “dark side” as his father, Darth Vader, had done.
When we consider our own DESTINY we must understand the role our choices play in the process. There is power which can influence us toward good or evil. But what is the DESTINY God has in mind for us?
As Paul wrote to the church at Thessalonica he contrasted those who lived as children of light and those who were of the darkness. However, the relationship they had with Christ was the determining factor with regard to their DESTINY.
Paul encouraged…
“(9) For GOD HAS NOT DESTINED US FOR WRATH, BUT TO OBTAIN SALVATION THROUGH OUR LORD JESUS CHRIST, (10) who died for us so that whether we are awake or asleep we might live with him. (11) Therefore encourage one another and build one another up, just as you are doing.” ( 1 Thessalonians 5:9-11
ESV)
God created us in His image, sent His son to redeem us from sin, and provided His Spirit to bring renewal to our lives -- all because the DESTINY He has set before us is not to experience His wrath, but rather eternal life and glory with Him. The power of light is greater than that of the darkness. May we continue to surrender to God, relying upon His strength and wisdom as we walk in the light ( 1 John 1:7), so that this DESTINY can fully be realized.
Have a great day WALKING IN THE POWER AND LIGHT OF CHRIST!
Carl
