Nipping It In The Bud!

The bud of a flower is a sign there is a time of blossoming coming. It is also a glimpse of the type of flower that is to BLOOM. And in life, the bud of human activity may reveal the potential for either good or evil. When the glimpse is that of evil purposes, nipping the bud keeps the problem from coming into FULL BLOOM. That is what appears to have been the action of God after the flood.

God had given the command for mankind to be fruitful and spread out over the earth. ( Genesis 9:1) Nevertheless there were some who decided to make a name for themselves by building a city and a tower in an attempt to keep from be scattered. ( Genesis 11:4) Surveying the situation, God saw the need to nip the situation in the bud.

We read…
“And the Lord said, “Behold, they are one people, and they have all one language, and THIS IS ONLY THE BEGINNING OF WHAT THEY WILL DO. And nothing that they propose to do will now be impossible for them.” ( Genesis 11:6 ESV)

There is great power when people come together with one mind to do something, whether that be for bad or good. When the will is strong there is much that can be done. God saw that these were united as “one people” in this effort and they were speaking the same language. However, the activity and purpose were in direct rebellion to the Will of God and He therefore confused their language to stop the work and fulfill His purpose in dispersing them over the earth.

When we read the commands of God, if we see something beginning to unfold in our life that is contrary to His Will, let us seek to nip it in the bud before it has a chance to blossom. Why is it so important to do so?

Note the progression James described.
“(14) But each person is tempted when he is lured and enticed by his own desire. (15) Then desire when it has conceived gives birth to sin, and sin when it is fully grown brings forth death.” ( James 1:14-15 ESV)

We must be very watchful regarding what we allow to come to FULL BLOOM! As we acknowledge the power in unity of mind and communication for either good or evil we should seek for that unity to be with God and those of kindred spirit. If we seek to speak the language of God (His Word and Will) we will remain in harmony with His purposes. Then what comes to FULL BLOOM in our life will be to His glory and praise.

Have a great day LIVING AS PART OF GOD’S BEAUTIFUL BOUQUET!
