Frequency!
We make choices in life and sometimes find ourselves having to face the music. However, all the music is not bad. Even music a varying moods can play its own particular role in helping us press on. The statement has been made, “There is plenty of heavenly music for those who are tuned in.” [source: “1600 Squibs And Quips”, compiled by E. C. McKenzie]
Are we TUNED IN? How often? As these two questions indicate, there are perhaps two ways in which we should consider our “frequency.” Two definitions (taken from Microsoft® Encarta® Encyclopedia 2002. © 1993-2001 Microsoft Corporation) for the word “frequency” are: [1] “the fact of happening often or regularly at short intervals” and [2] “a wavelength on which a radio or television signal is broadcast and to which a receiving set can be tuned.”
First of all we need to be sure we are TUNED IN to the right “frequency” if we are going to find the right music or message for life. But the “frequency” of which we TUNE IN is also of paramount importance. As we consider the ease of pushing the buttons (or clicking the remote) for our radio or television, we should consider the ease of picking up our Bibles and reading through the pages. We should also give serious thought to which of these we are TUNED IN to the most? Whatever it is will have the greatest influence in our life.
Note some folk Paul and Silas encountered.
“(10) The brothers immediately sent Paul and Silas away by night to Berea, and when they arrived they went into the Jewish synagogue. (11) Now these Jews were more noble than those in Thessalonica; they RECEIVED THE WORD WITH ALL EAGERNESS, EXAMINING THE SCRIPTURES DAILY to see if these things were so.” ( Acts 17:10-11 ESV)
The Bereans had good “reception” when it came to the Word of God. They eagerly received it. They were also TUNED IN to the Scriptures on a daily basis in order to be certain they were continuing to receive the truth. Keeping TUNED IN was a safeguard against being led astray by that which might have sounded good, but was not true.
In the Psalms we read…
“How can a young man keep his way pure? BY GUARDING IT ACCORDING TO YOUR WORD.” ( Psalm 119:9 ESV)
May we each be certain to remain TUNED IN to the right “frequency” and to do so with “frequency”. It is the way to ensure we are listening to the music of Heaven now and will be able to for eternity.
Have a great day LIVING LIFE TUNED TO GOD!
