Don't Quit!
A mother came home from shopping one day and was greeted at the door by one of her children who was bearing a huge smile on his face. “What have you been up to?” she asked suspiciously. “I’ve been helping you today,” came his proud response. Almost afraid to find out she then asked, “What did you do?” “I licked all your stamps for you.”
Some envelopes are marked with the clear reminder: “Without the proper postage, the Post Office will return your mail.” The thing about a postage stamp is that its usefulness consists in its ability to STICK TO ONE THING UNTIL IT GETS THERE! And such should be our focus for pressing on in life.
Jesus warned…
“(12) And because lawlessness will be increased, the love of many will grow cold. (13) BUT THE ONE WHO ENDURES TO THE END WILL BE SAVED.” ( Matthew 24:12-13 ESV)
Enduring is important. Regardless of how long we might hold on, if we don’t STICK WITH IT to the end, it is all for not! Remember how Paul focused on the “ONE THING” of forgetting what was behind and straining toward what was to come. ( Philippians 3:13) We must keep our faith in God and our love for His Will alive as we press on, knowing that whatever we endure will be nothing compared to the glory that is to come. ( 2 Corinthians 4:17)
Like the stamp, when it comes to our hope for eternity, our usefulness to ourselves, to others, and to God’s glory will come through our steadfastness in STICKING TO THE ONE THING UNTIL WE GET THERE! May we continue to encourage each other on!
Have a great day STICKING WITH GOD FOR ETERNITY!
Carl
