Beyond The Heart!

Having a heart that is touchable is important. There is much that begins in the heart, which is why the focus of our affections and desires is so important in life. However, we must also be mindful of movement beyond the heart to a DEMONSTRATION of what is genuinely taking place there.

As John was preparing the way for Jesus, among those who came out to him to be baptized were some of the Pharisees and Sadducees. ( Matthew 3:7) Apparently they saw John’s ministry associated with a new beginning and wanted to be included. Nevertheless, John seems to have questioned their motives and pointed to the need of a life DEMONSTRATION consistent with a proper heart focus in responding to his message of repentance.

John boldly exhorted…
“BEAR FRUIT IN KEEPING WITH REPENTANCE” ( Matthew 3:8 ESV)

A penitent spirit is more than being sorry for wrong. To repent is to turn and change direction in life. And a heart touched in such a way should be evident by a DEMONSTRATION of changed behavior and direction of life.

Does our life DEMONSTRATE “fruit in keeping with repentance”? May we maintain a heart that is touchable by the truth in a way that our outward life will reveal the genuineness of following God’s Will.

Have a great day BEARING FRUIT CONSISTENT WITH LIVING FOR CHRIST!
