Apologize?
There are some things we may have been sorry we said either because they were not true or the words we said were simply not nice (perhaps leaving our lips before our brain was in gear). Even when something is true we might be sorry for the way in which we said it. And though we ought to speak the TRUTH in love ( Ephesians 4:15) there is a quality of TRUTH itself that remains the same. The statement has been made, “Truth is stubborn. It doesn’ t apologize to anybody.” [source: “1600 Squibs And Quips”, compiled by E. C. McKenzie]
Toward the end of Paul’s second letter to the church at Corinth, he wrote…
“For we cannot do anything against the TRUTH, but ONLY FOR THE TRUTH.” ( 2 Corinthians 13:8 ESV)
Though we may not be perfect regarding our choice of words, when it comes to the TRUTH do we feel a need to apologize for it? TRUTH is TRUTH. It stands on its own. Even if TRUTH is denied or attempts are made to cover it up, it still exists and will ultimately prevail. That is why we should make every effort to remain on the side of the TRUTH. It is not to take the backset to anything!
Consider the boldness of the following statement by Jesus:
“Jesus said to him, “I AM the way, and the TRUTH, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.” ( John 14:6)
No apology! No alternate possibility! No multiple choice! The TRUTH remains that Jesus is the only way to experience true life (both now and eternally) and gain access to the Father.
When we acknowledge Jesus as the Lord of our life there is no need to do so apologetically. Since He is the TRUTH, we are to let that reality be known as the central TRUTH of our life. As we live our daily lives, let us do so boldly living out loud the TRUTH regarding the Sovereign Lordship of Jesus.
Have a great day LIVING TRUE TO JESUS!
