Right?
As long as there are those who believe that “might makes right” there will be conflict in this world. However, there are those who seem to drop to an even lower level regarding a view of their own strength.
Note the following charge of God through Habakkuk.
“Then they sweep by like the wind and go on, guilty men, WHOSE OWN MIGHT IS THEIR GOD!” ( Habakkuk 1:11 ESV)
This appears to be a charge against Babylon which in various places of Scripture seems to have become a symbol of arrogance. Remember how even Nebuchadnezzar during the time of Daniel had to be humbled. ( Daniel 4:28-33) The charge in Habakkuk was that their strength became viewed as their deity. And whenever people deify their own ability and strength the need for God is pushed completely out of mind as well as the rights or needs of others. We are headed the same direction when we (as some have verbalized) begin to believe that we can overcome simply because we are Americans.
Becoming too self-confident leads down a dangerous road. Our hope to stand victorious is not so much based upon who we are as it is a matter of WHOSE we are! GOD MUST REMAIN OUR GOD in every facet of our life. And our life needs to demonstrate to the world that it is always “right which makes right” and the righteous Will of God is to remain sovereign over all. May His sovereign wisdom continue to be evident in our life.
Have a great day CONFIDENT IN RELYING ON GOD!
