Power Connection!
In a recent Bible class discussion, a member of our congregation whose father had worked for a power company in California made reference to the transforming of high voltage power to a useable form. A high power line may be carrying 11,000 volts, but such power cannot be handled by the appliances in our homes. In fact DRAWING ON such power would be both dangerous and destructive. However, with the use of a transformer that voltage can be reduced to the 240 or 120 that is adequate for our needs and easily handled by our home’s electrical system.
I have found it interesting when movies depict someone being given the power of God, how quickly it becomes apparent such power is not handled well. We can be thankful that God is God and we are not! Though we look to God for His strengthening and empowerment to live godly lives, in His omniscient (all knowing) wisdom He has not given us His omnipotent (all
powerful) ability. God has power we can DRAW ON, but it is provided in ways in which it can be handled.
Paul found sufficiency in what God provided for him.
“But he said to me, ‘MY GRACE IS SUFFICIENT for you, for MY POWER IS MADE PERFECT IN WEAKNESS.’ Therefore I will boast all the more gladly of my weaknesses, so THAT THE POWER OF CHRIST MAY REST UPON ME.” ( 2 Corinthians 12:9 ESV)
It is God to Whom we are to look when faced with temptation.
“No temptation has overtaken you that is not common to man. GOD IS FAITHFUL, AND HE WILL NOT LET YOU BE TEMPTED BEYOND YOUR ABILITY, but with the temptation HE WILL ALSO PROVIDE THE WAY OF ESCAPE, THAT YOU MAY BE ABLE TO ENDURE IT.” ( 1 Corinthians 10:13 ESV)
God has great wisdom, but has not dumped all knowledge upon us. What we gain we gain gradually, though recognizing there are still some secret things which belong to God. ( Deuteronomy 29:29) In order for us to DRAW ON the power of God we must maintain a connection to Him and allow His Word to transform our thinking. What He has revealed is sufficient for living life now.
Paul urged…
“Do not be conformed to this world, but BE TRANSFORMED BY THE RENEWAL OF YOUR MIND, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect.” ( Romans 12:2 ESV)
With God there will never be an energy shortage. He will always be all powerful. Let us remain connected to Him so as to be able to DRAW ON whatever power is beneficial and needed to empower us through the varying situations of life.
Have a great day REMAINING PLUGGED INTO GOD!
