No Substitute!

Last month I attended a luncheon hosted by our area blood center which was put on as a thank you to their volunteers and regular blood donors. Like my parents, I have been a regular blood donor for several years. It was not until last June that my father found himself on the receiving end and he was disappointed that he could no longer offer his blood to others. During the course of the meal a doctor spoke about the importance of blood donations because, though experimentation continues, there is still no substitute for human blood. It takes the blood of one person to provide blood for another in need.

Blood has been referred to as the gift of life. It is a part of God’s creation for transporting renewal through the body via our veins. Though we might not think about our blood’s continuing activity all the while it is doing its stuff, its importance is not to be taken for granted. However, as vital and powerful as the blood might be which flows in the veins of man or beast, it’s life giving power has its limitations.

Regarding Jesus and His blood, the Hebrew writer encouraged that…
“(12) he entered once for all into the holy places, not by means of the blood of goats and calves but by means of HIS OWN BLOOD, thus SECURING AN ETERNAL REDEMPTION. … (14) how much more will THE BLOOD OF CHRIST, who through the eternal Spirit offered himself without blemish to God, PURIFY our conscience from dead works to serve the living God.” ( Hebrews 9:12 & 14
ESV)

As there is no substitute for human blood, how much more we should realize there is also no substitute for the powerful BLOOD OF JESUS. Only by the power of HIS BLOOD can we be justified before God. ( Romans 5:9) It is HIS BLOOD that has the power to cleanse us of all sin ( 1 John 1:7) and provide us with an eternal hope because HIS BLOOD is associated with an eternal covenant. ( Hebrews 13:20)

Let us always bear in mind that as precious as blood is, the BLOOD OF JESUS is most precious of all. ( 1 Peter 1:19) Praise God for such an eternal provision as we gain because of it. May HIS BLOOD never be received in vain.

Have a great day CONNECTED TO CHRIST’S LIFE GIVING BLOOD!
