Caught Up In The Spirit!

It is easy to get caught up in all the hustle and bustle this time of year. But when we do, what happens to our mindfulness of others? When we find ourselves among the crowds do we discard our Christian ideals if that is what it appears is necessary for us to get what we want? Someone has stated, “Christmas shoppers are people with the spirit of brotherly shove.”
[source: calendar quote] Yesterday evening on the news I watched a clip of two cars trying to take the same parking spot, with one car actually pushing the other back out of the spot!

For too many “religion” is something to be practiced when it is convenient or with a view that the principles of godly character aren’t adequate for all situations of interaction in the world. Such individuals, in order to get what they want, set aside their religion for the moment in order to “survive” the ways of the world. However, we need to keep the SPIRIT OF CHRISTIANITY ALIVE in whatever we do. Jesus implied that loving is always a proper action ( Matthew 5:44-47) regardless of what the world is doing.

Paul exhorted…
“And WHATEVER YOU DO, in word or deed, DO EVERYTHING IN THE NAME OF THE LORD JESUS, giving thanks to God the Father through him.” ( Colossians 3:17 ESV)

Whatever! Whatever you do! Do it in the Name of the Lord Jesus! It is to be the SPIRIT in which we approach whatever we are doing as well as how we react to situations regardless of how hectic our surroundings might be. We may end up walking a little further. We may have to wait a little longer. Perhaps we’ll even lose our chance at that last item. But what is gained for Christ if we approach life like the rest of the world? Maintaining the SPIRIT OF CHRISTIANITY will bring a calm within our own selves and holds great potential for a positive impact on others. Our world is deeply in need of recognizing the beauty of a genuine CHRISTIAN SPIRIT.

The SPIRIT OF CHRISTIANITY is to be seen as the element that helps us “survive” the things of this realm. It is to permeate our entire being because it is what we are; Christians; genuine followers of Jesus Christ! May that be the SPIRIT we are continually caught up in!

Have a great day LIVING TO THE GLORY OF CHRIST!
