Feelings!

Feelings can be funny fellows. Sometimes we get a funny feeling about something though we may not be sure why? In such situations we might simply become cautious. There are also times when we may have difficulty adequately expressing the way we feel. The first time I told my wife (in the early stages of our courtship) I loved her was in a song written for her. It is possible to experience feelings which can both defy description and understanding. However, it is still beneficial to others for us to try making a HEART CONNECTION when they are bearing a burden of some kind. As we attempt to sympathize (feel for) with others in their situations and to even move to the deeper level of trying to empathize (feel with) as well, we should still keep in mind we may not fully understand what is being experienced deep down inside another person.

Solomon stated…
“The heart knows its own bitterness, and no stranger shares its joy.” ( Proverbs 14:10 (ESV)

The emotions everyone feels even through the same experiences may not always be the same. The fullness of one’s inner pain or inner joy may not be fully revealed to others. Sometimes people prefer to keep those deepest feelings within. There are also times when an individual’s laughter covers some hidden pain. What we must guard against is assuming too much and saying such things as “I know just how you feel” or “I know just what you are going through.” Though these words are often spoken by well meaning individuals, each person’s feelings are quite their own.

When it comes to our own feelings, we must guard the actions we allow them to trigger. And when it comes to the feelings of others, perhaps the most important thing for us to do is simply be there for them while trying to draw their focus upward to the One Who does truly understand all things. Even though we might even verbalize we don’t know all the emotions another is experiencing, the support of our PRESENCE AND PRAYERS can still be very beneficial and greatly appreciated.

Have a great day TOUCHED TO ENCOURAGE!
