Cinching It!
I applied for a new job today and I’m pretty confident I got it. I’m sure I impressed the CEO of the company and will probably move up through the ranks quickly. As soon as I sat down for the interview I began to tell the CEO everything they were doing wrong and advised him on the changes that would help generate more profit for the company. The way he stared at me while I talked, I’m sure he was amazed at the wisdom I was able to offer. In fact the interview went so well they didn’t have to spend as much time with me as the others interviewing for the job. I was in and out of there so fast I’m sure they were also impressed by what a quick worker I can be. Yes, I’m pretty certain I cinched that job!
The truth is, I did not interview for a new job today. However, it is not hard to imagine the negative impact such an approach would have. The scenario above is the least advisable way to try to impress a potential employer. We would probably all admit that we KNOW BETTER than that. Unfortunately that is not the case with all people.
We may have had occasion to encounter an individual who appeared to think they knew it all. I recently read the following calendar quote: “Those who think they know it all are very annoying to those who do.” Perhaps we have been put off by such an egotistical attitude. Yet the real tragedy is that many live their lives ignoring the wisdom of God, therefore revealing they apparently think they KNOW BETTER than He does.
Writing to the church at Corinth, Paul stated…
“(14) The natural person does not accept the things of the Spirit of God, for they are folly to him, and he is not able to understand them because they are spiritually discerned. (15) the spiritual person judges all things, but is himself to be judged by no one. (16) “FOR WHO HAS UNDERSTOOD THE MIND OF THE LORD SO AS TO INSTRUCT HIM?” BUT WE HAVE THE MIND OF CHRIST.” ( 1 Corinthians 2:14-16 ESV)
We don’t instruct the Lord, rather HE INSTRUCTS US! In order to cinch life, we need to accept His instruction, thus revealing we truly do KNOW BETTER than those who think they know all they need to know already. Let us continue to seek to please the Lord and gain the benefit He desires to bring into our lives by accepting the instruction He offers. In this way we will begin to develop more of His mind and we should know that that has to be BETTER than being left to our own limited wisdom.
Have a great day HUMBLY BENEFITING FROM THE WISDOM OF GOD!
