Carried Along!

As we gathered with family for Thanksgiving Day, one of the highlights of our time together was when there were about seventeen of us still together in the evening joining for over an hour and a half in singing hymns together. I am so thankful God has blessed us with a spirit of SONG. Singing is therapeutic in so many ways. It draws hearts together. It is calming. It is strengthening. It encourages a spirit of pressing on. It directs the focus heavenward. It helps center the mind on the things that matter most.
And above all, joining together in SONG with those of kindred spirit is a taste of Heaven. One of the things I look forward to in eternity is being able to join in the praise of Heaven without having to worry about a temporal voice wearing out.

I think of the psalmist who wrote…
“By day the Lord commands his steadfast love, and AT NIGHT HIS SONG IS WITH ME, a prayer to the God of my life.” ( Psalm 42:8 ESV)

A song to soothe. A song to encourage. A song to remind that God is mindful of every experience we go through whether it be day or night.

Also…
“LET THE GODLY EXULT IN GLORY; LET THEM SING FOR JOY ON THEIR BEDS.”
( Psalm 149:5 ESV)

Anytime and anywhere we can enjoy the power of SONG. Whether we are running the words and melody silently through our mind, sing out loud by ourselves as we go through various moments of the day, or joining with others in the lifting of the voice in praise; a SONG of the heart can be just what the Doctor (the Great Physician) ordered. Even those who may feel they can’t carry a tune in a bucket can still carry a SONG in their heart.
May we continue to experience the wonderful blessing from God a SONG can truly be to ourselves and with whomever we might share the experience.

Have a great day CARRIED ALONG BY A SONG OF GOD IN THE HEART!
