Breaking Away!

We need to maintain a HEART that is penetrable, touchable, yielding to that which is righteous. Our HEART must be closely guarded to make sure it does not become hardened by sin. It is the broken and contrite HEART ( Psalm 51:17) which God desires us to possess because that is the kind of HEART which is able to respond appropriately to His Word and Will.

Someone has well said, “True repentance means not only a heart broken for sin but from sin.” [source: sentence sermons]

We must possess a HEART which does more than just acknowledge sin. We need to be serious about guarding against cherishing some secret sin. Instead it is important to be quick to separate ourselves far from it before it has a chance to begin mastering us.

Paul admonished those at Rome…
“(1) What shall we say then? Are we to continue in sin that grace may abound? (2) By no means! HOW CAN WE WHO DIED TO SIN STILL LIVE IN IT?” ( Romans 6:1-2 ESV)

The tie to sin needs to be severed. Our walk needs to be somewhere else. Repentance is to be the action of turning and breaking the HEART away from affection toward sin by drawing the HEART’S affections ever closer to God and His Will. May we allow a sincere love for God and His Way to be the tie that binds.

Have a great day LIVING IN THE RIGHTEOUSNESS OF GOD!
