A Five Leg Dog?
A F I V E L E G D O G ?
Abraham Lincoln is said to have had a favorite riddle which he used to put to his colleagues. This is the way it went: “If a man were to call the tail of a dog a leg, how many legs would the dog have?”
The usual reply was, “Five.”
With a smile Lincoln would say, “Wrong. The dog still has four legs.
Calling the tail a leg doesn’t make it one.”
Oh how our world today needs to hear the wisdom in that. Why do so many want to call things other than what they are? Changing the labels does not change the reality.
In Isaiah 5:20 we read:
“Woe to those who call evil good and good evil, who put darkness for light and light for darkness, who put bitter for sweet and sweet for bitter!” (ESV)
God has revealed how He views things. Let’s acknowledge His labels. Don’t let the world pull a quick one on you by changing the labels. Just as “A rose by any other name is still a rose”, so wrong by any other name is still wrong. Regardless of what even the so called “experts” say, truth is still truth and God’s Word is still relevant for our lives today. Let’s keep God’s standard in view. See it like it is!
Have a great day SEEING AS GOD SEES!
