Looking Good!
The new house that has been being built across the street from our church building is getting close to completion. From the outside it looks just about finished, but more work is still needed within.
Outside we may look good, but what is going on inside? Are the walls in place and the rooms set up to serve their purpose? Is the wiring complete and the lighting in place? Is our life truly a SUITABLE DWELLING for the Spirit of God? ( Romans 8:11)
Note Jesus’ rebuke toward some of the religious elite of that day.
“(27) Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For you are like whitewashed tombs, which OUTWARDLY APPEAR BEAUTIFUL, BUT WITHIN ARE FULL OF DEAD PEOPLE’S BONES AND ALL UNCLEANNESS. (28) So you also outwardly appear righteous to others, BUT WITHIN you are full of hypocrisy and lawlessness.” ( Matthew 23:27-28 ESV)
Jesus did not mince words. He called it like it was. He had the ability to see the true condition within. ( John 2:25) And though our exterior finish my appear great to the world, we must be mindful of the finishing work within. Are we in need of some home improvement? May we strive to make our life a SUITABLE DWELLING place to the glory of God. What better company could we desire?
Have a great day LIVING AS A HOLY HABITATION FOR GOD.
