Humility!

What is it that makes maintaining a spirit of humility important? First of all because “God opposes the proud, but gives grace to the humble.”
( James 4:6 and 1 Peter 5:5 quoting the Greek of Proverbs 3:34) We do not want to be opposed by God. When we know that “God is for us” we don’t have to fear who might be against us. ( Romans 8:31) We also must acknowledge how much we are in need of God’s grace, living in a manner which reveals a true appreciation for it.

David noted…
“(8) Good and upright is the Lord; therefore he instructs sinners in the way. (9) He LEADS THE HUMBLE in what is right, and TEACHES THE HUMBLE his way.” ( Psalm 25:8-9 ESV)

David’s description of a spirit of humility is the possession of a LEADABLE and TEACHABLE spirit. We need to remain humble enough to honestly acknowledge we are still in need of guidance beyond ourselves. We must also maintain a spirit of humility that honestly acknowledges we still have much to learn and that which we might think we know may need to be drawn closer in harmony with God’s Will.

God LEADS and TEACHES the humble because the possession of such a spirit allows Him to do so. May we each continue to surrender our will to His in all areas of our life that we may receive these rich benefits from God.

Have a great day BLESSED BY SUBMITTING WHOLLY TO GOD!
