From Glory to Glory!
As we noted yesterday, Jesus became poor that we might become rich. ( 2 Corinthians 8:9) He emptied Himself and submitted to death on a cross in order to provide the fullness of God’s blessings for us. However, this is not just a “riches to poverty” story. The story of our Lord is actually a “riches to rags and back to riches” story. Once Jesus completed all He came to do, His exalted position was COMPLETELY RESTORED ( Philippians 2:9-11) with everything under His authority. ( Ephesians 1:20-22)
John recorded a prayer Jesus prayed prior to His going with His disciples to the garden where He was betrayed and arrested. Note a statement Jesus made in the first part of that prayer.
“(4) I glorified you on earth, having accomplished the work that you gave me to do. (5) And now, Father, GLORIFY ME IN YOUR OWN PRESENCE WITH THE GLORY THAT I HAD WITH YOU BEFORE THE WORLD EXISTED.” ( John 17:4-5 ESV)
We must guard against merely viewing Jesus according to the flesh. ( 2 Corinthians 5:16) He has been exalted on high. He is seated at the right hand of God in eternal glory. He is on the throne and His Sovereignty is eternal. He is glorified as Lord above all. His Name is above all names.
What He emptied Himself of ( Philippians 2:7) has been taken back in its fullness. His glory has been COMPLETELY RESTORED and He desires to share that glory with those who are His. ( Romans 8:17; Colossians 3:4; 2 Thessalonians 2:14) May we continue to give Him the praise He is due.
Have a great day LIVING LIFE LINKED TO THE GRAND STORY OF JESUS!
