Freedom and Glory!
Today, July 4, is celebrated as Independence Day in our country. It is a day to focus on freedom. It is one of those days of the year when “OLD GLORY” (our flag -- the Stars And Stripes) is flown by many with pride.
People glory in light of the freedoms we enjoy. There are glorious aspects of life in this country that are cherished. Some glory in having been a part of making a stand to safeguard the freedoms we enjoy. Such individuals should be honored and the valor of those who gave the ultimate sacrifice of their lives should be remembered. However, as there is a higher freedom God has provided, there is also a GREATER GLORY to experience.
Writing to the church at Corinth, Paul acknowledge the glory associated with the coming of the old covenant, as well as the glory associated with Moses. ( 2 Corinthians 3:12) There were some awesome displays of glory associated with Moses having been in the presence of God. Nevertheless, that glory has been eclipsed by the GREATER GLORY ( 2 Corinthians 3:8 & 11) associated with our Lord’s having come to earth and the hope of eternal life offered in Him.
Paul encouraged…
“(17) Now the Lord is the Spirit, and where the Spirit of the Lord is, THERE IS FREEDOM. (18) And we all, with unveiled face, BEHOLDING THE GLORY OF THE LORD, ARE BEING TRANSFORMED INTO THE SAME IMAGE FROM ONE DEGREE OF GLORY TO ANOTHER. For this comes from the Lord who is the Spirit.” ( 2 Corinthians 3:17-18 ESV)
With the coming of Christ came the coming of a NEW GLORY. And in Christ we are provided the means of sharing our Lord’s GLORY in increasing measure.
That GREATER GLORY is shared in our becoming more and more like Him. May we continue to allow that GLORIOUS TRANSFORMATION to continue as we walk on in life with Jesus.
Have a great day ENCOURAGED BY SHARED GLORY IN CHRIST!
