Following His Example!

Paul recognized the importance of setting an example. However, he also knew in order to set the right example he needed to focus on the right one himself. ( 1 Corinthians 11:1) Being an example is easy. Everybody is an example of something. It is the QUALITY of our example of which we must be mindful.

Writing to the church at Galatia, Paul stated…
“And from those who seemed to be influential (WHAT THEY WERE MAKES NO DIFFERENCE TO ME; GOD SHOWS NO PARTIALITY) -- those, I say, who seemed influential added nothing to me.” ( Galatians 2:6 ESV)

After Paul had labored with the churches in the region of Galatia, there were some who seem to have followed and created unrest among these believers. Apparently there were some who thought of themselves as being something when they were nothing because he cautioned against such an attitude. ( Galatians 6:3) But Paul based his life and ministry on the authority of God rather than men. (note Galatians 1:11 - 2:5) He also aimed to view others in the same manner in which God did. Since God did NOT SHOW PARTIALITY -- not categorizing mankind by outward appearance or social status -- neither would Paul. This may have aided Paul’s ministry in at least two respects. First, such an attitude allowed Paul to escape being overly influenced by the views and status of others. Secondly, this seems to have helped him connect with people from all walks of life, thus providing many opportunities to share the hope of the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

God SHOWS NO PARTIALITY! Paul exemplified that in his own life. As we follow that example we also will be an example worthy of being followed, we will safeguard our own life against being overly influenced by the status of others, and we will have a large barrier removed allowing us to connect with others with the message of Jesus. May we follow on in this likeness of God.

Have a great day SEEING OTHERS GOD’S WAY!
