Face of Faith!
A couple weeks ago we were beginning a discussion in Hebrews 11. Based upon the definition of faith given by the Hebrew writer in the first verse of that chapter, the class was asked to write a one sentence definition of faith using the words “anticipation” and “assurance.” There were a number of good definitions shared by the class, but I was unfortunately not quick enough to write them down as they were shared. Here, however, is the definition I offered: “Faith is the complete assurance of the anticipation that all God has said will come to complete fruition.” This is the faith I want to grow more in; a faith that removes all doubt.
Someone has stated, “Faith makes the uplook good, the outlook bright, the inlook favorable, and the future glorious.” [author unknown]
Faith has great power to impact the WAY WE LOOK at life. As we meet a diversity of situations, the kind of faith we possess determines our overall view of what is being faced. There are often two possible ways of looking at each particular situation. What we need is the kind of faith that turns our face away from the negative and pessimistic view toward the good, bright, favorable and glorious outcomes God can ultimately bring as we continue to trust and follow His Will.
John encouraged…
“(4) For everyone who has been born of God OVERCOMES the world. And this is THE VICTORY that has overcome the world -- OUR FAITH. (5) Who is it that OVERCOMES the world except the one who believes that Jesus is the Son of God?” ( 1 John 5:4-5 ESV)
The key to a victorious UPLOOK, OUTLOOK, INLOOK, and keeping a face toward a glorious FUTURE, is faith in Jesus as the Son of God, and His ability to bring us safely through this life and into His glorious eternal realm. May we keep a faithful face toward Him.
Have a great day ESTABLISHED AS AN OVERCOMER!
