Being Immortalized! (Part 2 of 2)

As we noted yesterday, mankind has tried various means by which to immortalize himself. However, even man’s best efforts are not sufficient to bring that about. How do we face the reality of our immortality? Where do we find encouragement in the face of our great limitations? How can we find assurance that our life is not lived in vain?

Paul encouraged…
“(53) For THIS PERISHABLE BODY MUST PUT ON THE IMPERISHABLE, and THIS MORTAL BODY MUST PUT ON IMMORTALITY. (54) When the PERISHABLE PUTS ON THE IMPERISHABLE, and THE MORTAL PUTS ON IMMORTALITY, then shall come to pass the saying that is written: ‘Death is swallowed up in victory.’ (55) ‘O death, where is your victory? O death, where is your sting?’ (56) The sting of death is sin, and the power of sin is the law. (57) But THANKS BE TO GOD, WHO GIVES US THE VICTORY THROUGH OUR LORD JESUS CHRIST. (58) Therefore, my beloved brothers, be steadfast, immovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, knowing that IN THE LORD YOUR LABOR IS NOT IN VAIN.” ( 1 Corinthians 15:53-58 ESV)

It is only in the Lord that we can seek and find immortality (Romans
2:7) because, IN JESUS, death (eternal separation from God) has been abolished and “life and immortality” have been brought to light through the gospel. (2 Tim. 1:10) Life in this realm is not all there is to our existence. Our God has provided the means to sufficiently bridge the present with eternity.

As Jesus prepared His disciples for his eventual crucifixion and death, He encouraged them with these words: “…Because I live, you also will live.”
( John 14:19 ESV) Jesus can offer the hope of eternal life because He Himself is eternal. And if we remain in Him Who is eternal, we can have the assurance of an eternal existence with Him. May we never lose sight of that hope.

Have a great day LIVING IN THE ETERNAL ONE!
