Apostasy! (Part 3 of 6)

Paul, writing to Timothy, warned…
“(3) For the time is coming when people will not endure sound teaching, but having itching ears THEY WILL ACCUMULATE FOR THEMSELVES TEACHERS TO SUIT THEIR OWN PASSIONS, (4) and will turn away from listening to the truth and wander off into myths.” ( 2 Timothy 4:3-4 ESV)

Many are eager to find teachers who will teach what they want rather than what they NEED. We must be cautious regarding the teachers with which we surround ourselves. What we feed our mind (including the books we read and the people we listen to most) will greatly influence our life choices.
We must be as diligent as the Bereans who examined the Scriptures daily to make sure whether what they were being taught was true or not. ( Acts 17:11) Remember, that was the Apostle Paul they were checking out. Continually checking the Scriptures is a personal safeguard and should even be appreciated by any honest and humble teacher of God’s Word.

In the political arena, in institutions of education, much of our media, and even in the “religious” sphere there is an excess of teachers to teach whatever anyone wants to hear. May we continue to look to God so that we can HEAR WHAT WE NEED to hear instead of merely what we want.

Have a great day ACCUMULATING MORE KNOWLEDGE OF GOD’S WORD!
