Perseverance! (Part 4 of 5)

Persevering! How do we do it? What can we focus on to maintain the fortitude necessary to keep on keeping on in the midst of trials and conflict in this corrupt world? We have considered the ideas of remembering we are not alone and remembering how our God is in it with us for the long haul. Today we will consider number three:

#3 -- DEVELOP A DEEP COMMITMENT TO OUR CONVICTIONS.

It has been expressed that if we stand for nothing we will stand for anything. It doesn’t take much looking at our society today to see where that reality has gotten us.

We must be convicted by the truth of God’s word and the need for allowing God to use us in whatever role He desires. This should spring from the realization of all God has done, is doing, and has promised to provide for us. Peter and John, when told by the Sanhedrin to cease their teaching in the Name of Jesus, were too convicted by the truth to even consider the warnings against them ( Acts 4:20). Paul felt the compelling power of Christ’
s love driving him in his ministry (I Cor. 9:16; 2 Cor. 5:14).

Paul, writing to the church in Rome, stated:
“(6) God “will give to each person according to what he has done.”
(7) To those who by PERSISTENCE IN DOING GOOD seek glory, honor and immortality, he will give eternal life. (8) But for those who are self-seeking and who reject the truth and follow evil, there will be wrath and anger.” ( Romans 2:6-8 NIV)

God has given us a standard by which to live. He has given us truth upon which to build our lives. What does it mean to us? Do we take it all seriously? Where our convictions rest will determine our usefulness to the Lord as well as our ability to stand firm in the truth.

Have a great day COMMITTED to the Will and Word of God!
Carl
