Perseverance! (Part 2 of 5)

Persevering! How do we do it? What can we focus on to maintain the fortitude necessary to keep on keeping on in the midst of trials and conflict in this corrupt world?

#1 -- REMEMBER WE ARE NOT ALONE!

Consider God’s track record throughout the Scriptures. What does it tell us about God? When I consider all the times God encouraged Israel, most often it was by reminding them He would not leave them. If the nation remained obedient He would be right there fighting their battles for them (i.e. Ex. 14:14; Deut. 1:30; 3:22; 20:4). God never asked His people to depend on their own savvy, their own personal power, nor their own numeric strength. In fact, when God’s people began to put their trust in themselves and their own power -- that is when they met defeat.

The Psalmist wrote:
“(16) No king is saved by the size of his army; no warrior escapes by his great strength. (17) A horse is a vain hope for deliverance; despite all its great strength it cannot save. (18) But the eyes of the LORD are on those who fear him, on those whose hope is in his unfailing love, (19) to deliver them from death and keep them alive in famine.” ( Psalm 33:16-19 NIV)

This is why, when Paul mentioned the spiritual warfare Christians are involved in, he began by saying:
“...be strong IN THE LORD and IN HIS mighty power.” ( Ephesians 6:10
NIV)

Then the armor to be put on is what the Lord provides. God provides what is suitable for the battle. God provides what is necessary to stand in the conflict. And He wants us to never forget that we are not alone in the struggle.

Have a great day persevering because HE IS WITH US!
