Seeking Him! (part 2 of 2)
Yesterday we noted how we ought to seek the Lord while we still have the opportunity. Through Isaiah we find further reason from the Lord for seeking Him.
Note again the exhortation of God through the prophet Isaiah.
“(6) SEEK THE LORD while he may be found; call upon him while he is near; (7) LET THE WICKED FORSAKE HIS WAY, and THE UNRIGHTEOUS MAN HIS THOUGHTS; let him return to the Lord, that he may have compassion on him, and to our God, for he will abundantly pardon. (8) For MY THOUGHTS ARE NOT YOUR THOUGHTS, NEITHER ARE YOUR WAYS MY WAYS, declares the Lord. (9) For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are MY WAYS HIGHER THAN YOUR WAYS AND MY THOUGHTS THAN YOUR THOUGHTS.” ( Isaiah 55:6-9 ESV)
All the ways and all the thoughts of mankind are not on an equal plane. The contrasts vary greatly from a range between basic right and wrong to the expanse between foolishness and genius. But the contrast between God and mankind is even greater. There is a huge contrast between our thoughts and God’s thoughts and our ways and His ways. His are much HIGHER. Even Paul pointed out that man, in his search for wisdom and self-sufficiency, needed to recognize that “…the foolishness of God is wiser than men, and the weakness of God is stronger than men.” ( 1 Corinthians 1:25 ESV) Paul’s statement seems to have implied the greatest contrast possible. God simply OUTCLASSES us in every way! All this logically points to the wisdom of continuing to seek the exceeding HIGHER ways and thoughts of God. Left to our own ways and thoughts we will be lost.
As we look up to view how high the heavens are above the earth, let us be reminded to continue looking up to the ways and thoughts of God. Diligently seeking His HIGH ways and LOFTY thoughts will continue to draw us toward the HIGHER calling we have received from Him and ultimately our HIGHEST eternal blessings above.
Have a great day SEEKING THE SUPERIOR WAY AND WISDOM OF GOD!
