Seeking Escape!
As Paul was being taken to Rome where he would stand trial in Caesar’s court -- since he had appealed to Caesar ( Acts 25:11-12; 26:30-32) -- he ended up on a ship that found itself in the midst of a terrible storm. ( Acts 27) Sailors aboard ship, recognizing the peril they were in, decided they needed to make an escape and began to lower the lifeboat under the pretense of letting down anchors from the bow of the ship. ( Acts 27:30) It had already been revealed to Paul that there would be the suffering of the loss of the ship and its cargo. ( Acts 27:21-26) However, there would be no loss of life, provided everyone REMAINED with the ship. ( Acts 27:31)
Venturing out on our own, trying to save ourselves by our own means or any means other than what God has determined, will not provide for our rescue. God has revealed the only means of our salvation ( Acts 4:12) and unless we REMAIN with Him we cannot be saved.
Peter encouraged regarding God’s great blessing…
“(3) His divine power has granted to us all things that pertain to life and godliness, through the knowledge of him who called us to his own glory and excellence, (4) by which he has granted to us his precious and very great promises, so that THROUGH THEM YOU MAY BECOME PARTAKERS OF THE DIVINE NATURE, HAVING ESCAPED FROM THE CORRUPTION THAT IS IN THE WORLD because of sinful desire.” ( 2 Peter 1:3-4 ESV)
It matters not how big the storm. What we need to focus on is how big our God is. His Divine power offers the adequate means of providing for our escape from corruption and to receive salvation in Christ. If we faithfully REMAIN firm, enduring to the end, we will be saved. ( Matthew 24:12-13) Jesus said so!
Have a great day STAYING WITH THE DELIVERANCE GOD PROVIDES!
