Keeping Afloat!

Someone has said, “We didn’t all come over on the same ship, but we’re all in the same boat.” [source: “1600 Squibs And Quips”, compiled by E. C. McKenzie]

Paul stated…
“for ALL HAVE SINNED AND FALL SHORT OF THE GLORY OF GOD,” ( Romans 3:23 ESV)

When it came to finding ourselves facing the dilemma of sin, we may not have all taken the same route or come by the same means. However, we ultimately found ourselves in the SAME BOAT with the same need for a means of salvation. Fortunately, God has provided the one means necessary and adequate for deliverance from that condition.

Paul went on to state…
“and ARE JUSTIFIED BY HIS GRACE as a gift, THROUGH THE REDEMPTION THAT IS IN CHRIST JESUS,” ( Romans 3:24 ESV)

Jesus did not take part in sin, but He did take on the flesh ( Romans 8:3), and perhaps in that sense we can say He got into the boat with us. It was in the flesh that Jesus revealed how we can live (even in a sinful
world) to please God and that He fulfilled the righteous requirement of the law for those who would walk, not after the flesh, but in accordance with the Spirit. ( Romans 8:4)

Sin presents various challenges to life. It seeks to take over and sink us. But like the disciples when on the sea in the storm ( Matthew 8:23-27), having Jesus ON BOARD in our life is the means of keeping from being sunk by sin.

There may be many roads to sin, but there is only one way to the Father ( John 14:6) and that is through Jesus Christ. May we continue in Him that our life may remain afloat, moving onward and upward toward our heavenly destination.

Have a great day LIVING WITH JESUS AT THE HELM!
Carl
