Right Under Our Nose!

Sometimes the very thing I am looking for is right under my nose. I look until I become frustrated, knowing I had placed the object in its usual place. Then, finally stopping the search, I simply look down and there it is. It was there all along; I had just kept looking past it or around it.

Rushing through a search it is easy to miss what we are looking for or what we need to find. Sometimes what I need to do is just slow down and OPEN MY EYES.

One of the psalmists stated…
“OPEN MY EYES, THAT I MAY BEHOLD WONDROUS THINGS OUT OF YOUR LAW.” ( Psalm 119:18 ESV)

I have studied with people who have read their Bible before, yet would respond, “I never saw that scripture before.” or “Why didn’t anyone ever show me those passages before?” Their OWN EYES were seeing truths they had seen during prior readings. And though I myself read through the Bible each year I am amazed at what I have missed before.

God’s Word is worth reading. It is worth reading again. Though there are many books it is fine to say, “I read it once”, the Bible is not one of those. The Bible is the book to keep on reading and reading and reading until the day we die. And as we read let us do so with the prayer that God will OPEN OUR EYES to the wondrous truths He wants us to find. We can search the Scriptures to make a point (and we should make a point of having what we believe and say supported by the truth of God’s Word) while overlooking some of the truths we need to take to heart for our own personal spiritual growth.

May we keep our nose in God’s Book so that we may continue to find the treasures persevered there for our life enrichment!
