Reformed Runner!
While I was out walking today I was asked by an individual who had seen me walking before, “Are you a reformed runner?” Responding that I used to run, but my knees could no longer take the pounding, I told him I had found that a fast paced walk worked well enough to keep my metabolism up.
As I continued on my way I thought more of his question, “Are you a reformed runner?” Perhaps that is the precise need for many in this world; the need to become reformed runners. There are many who are RUNNING AFTER the things of this world rather than RUNNING OR WALKING AFTER the things of God; people RUNNING AFTER the desires of the flesh rather than walking in accordance with God’s way. Solomon referred to those whose feet were quick to run to evil ( Proverbs 6:18), but also mentioned those who ran to the safety in God ( Proverbs 18:10).
John warned…
“EVERYONE WHO GOES ON AHEAD AND DOES NOT ABIDE IN THE TEACHING OF CHRIST, DOES NOT HAVE GOD. Whoever abides in the teaching has both the Father and the Son.” ( 2 John 9 ESV)
The New International Version reads, “Anyone who RUNS AHEAD….” A reformed runner will stop running after the things of the world and turn to pursue the things of God. The Psalmist mentioned his running in the way of God’s commandments. ( Psalm 119:32)
Paul urged Timothy…
“So FLEE YOUTHFUL PASSIONS and PURSUE RIGHTEOUSNESS, FAITH, LOVE, AND PEACE, along with those who call on the Lord from a pure heart.” ( 2 Timothy 2:22 ESV)
Are there some things we are presently RUNNING AFTER which should be replaced with a walk in the Lord or a hastening of our steps back to Him? Let us always be mindful of making every step we take one that is in the steps of Jesus. It is sure to enhance our health in every way. (1 Timothy
4:8)
Have a great day KEEPING PACE WITH GOD’S WILL!
Carl
