Awash!

While in college I worked as a custodian. During that time I had the unfortunate experience on more than one occasion when the wheels of my mop bucket stopped for some reason. Due to my own momentum continuing to push the bucket forward, it quickly overturned allowing its contents to run everywhere as if a FLOODGATE had opened wide. A little water can go a long ways.

How quickly a glass of water (or a bucket) can be tipped over, and as quickly as we might react, once it begins flowing, it flows beyond our catching it! What we then find ourselves faced with is a mess to be cleaned up. And the more the volume of water the more the problem is magnified, even to the point of water damage beyond repair.

Solomon noted…
“THE BEGINNING OF STRIFE IS LIKE LETTING OUT WATER, so quit before the quarrel breaks out.” ( Proverbs 17:14 ESV)

The New Living Translation reads “Beginning a quarrel is LIKE OPENING A FLOODGATE….”

Like water breaching a dam, once it has started flowing it cannot be stopped. It will flow on and do its damage. And oh what devastation can come from quarreling. Once the FLOODGATE of the mouth has opened, the flow cannot be brought back. It goes and does what it will, even flowing to those whose ears may have not been meant to hear. And the damage is done, some of which may be irreparable. Therefore we must be careful, guarding against allowing the quarrelling to begin. Just like floodwaters, careless words can washout and devastate the lives of others.

Have a great day WISELY MONITORING THE SOURCE OF THE FLOW!
