A Worthy Cause!

There have been martyrs for many causes throughout the history of man. Great nobility has been courageously displayed on life’s stage again and again. But have all the causes been noble? Have all the ideologies been worth the laying down of a life?

It has been stated, “To die for an idea; it is unquestionably noble. But how much nobler it would be if men died for ideas that were true!” -- H. L. Mencken, [source: “A Treasury of Business Quotations” by Michael C. Thomsett, ©1990, #831, p.76]

Even in the Scriptures we find mention of some who had a cause and died for it. ( Acts 5:36-37) However, it is also noted that their followers soon fell by the wayside.

It is TRUTH which is worth taking a stand for, even to the point of death. But as Pilate himself asked, “What is TRUTH?” ( John 18:38)

TRUTH: We have sinned. ( Romans 3:23 ; I John 1:8)

TRUTH: We are in need of a Savior. Jesus is the only means of our eternal salvation and access to the Father. ( John 14:6)

TRUTH. Jesus came to seek and to save the lost. ( Luke 19:10) That was His mission and our salvation from sin was the cause which motivated Him to endure the cross and ultimately reveal His triumphal power over death.

Jesus stated…
“(17) For this reason the Father loves me, because I LAY DOWN MY LIFE that I may take it up again. (18) No one takes it from me, but I LAY IT DOWN OF MY OWN ACCORD. I have authority to lay it down, and I have authority to take it up again. This charge I have received from my Father.” ( John 10:17-18 ESV)

Some might question whether dying for sinners is a noble cause. However, that is exactly what God sent the Son to do and for that we should be eternally thankful. The TRUTH is that all was fulfilled in accordance with God’s plan to provide the adequate means for the cleansing of our sins.

Jesus stands out from all other martyrs in the fact He still lives. And though many have tried to halt His cause, it still stands. His followers are still following and the invitation is still extended for more to come. May we continue to acknowledge, live out, and share the TRUTH of Jesus to this lost and dying world.

Have a great day KNOWING THE POWER OF HIS CAUSE!
