The Evidence!

Sometimes people in search of evidence miss what is right under their own nose. Perhaps it is because they hold a bias that blinds them to the evidence. Or maybe it is because they just haven’t stopped to take a really good look around them.

We live in an area where it is enjoyable just to park oneself and take a look around. One can stand at one point, surveying around in all directions, and take in a spectacular view. From one vantage point it is possible to look out across the waters of our bay (Admiralty Inlet) and the Straight of Juan De Fuca, scan the peaks of a portion of two mountain ranges (the Cascades and Olympics), and marvel at the majesty of Mt. Baker and especially that of Mt. Rainier. It is all a view which I would have difficulty thinking of ever growing tired.

As one of the psalmists took a survey of the world around him he exclaimed…
“O LORD, HOW MANIFOLD ARE YOUR WORKS! IN WISDOM HAVE YOU MADE THEM ALL; the earth is full of your creatures.” ( Psalm 104:24 ESV)

Everything I described above is only a small glimpse of all that God, in HIS WISDOM, created. Those waters are filled with much variety of life forms. Those mountain ranges also contain a multitude of types of life. Surveying God’s creation should never cease to wow us. His very creation declares HIS WISDOM and the evidence of His existence as we behold its intricate design, the dependency of one life form on another, and how each one fits into a specific environment. There are creatures made for the air, for the water, to crawl on the ground or burrow in and through it, to live in the trees, etc. So much variety, but all fitting together just as GOD’S WISDOM designed. No chance. No haphazardness. All planned and put in place. Wow! They are all God’s works and God’s creatures. They belong to Him. And as His they declare HIS WISDOM.

We too are a part of God’s manifold creation. What do we declare? HIS WISDOM? Our own? It is mankind in its own wisdom that is often guilty of throwing God’s creation out of balance. If we acknowledge we belong to Him, we ought to be revealing HIS WISDOM in the way live in this realm and seek to fulfill His purposes. May we join in with the rest of God’s creation to reveal HIS WISDOM, the evidence that He, the Great Sustainer of life, still exists.
