Our Example!
While growing up, when we were given tasks to fulfill, we may have been encouraged to focus on the way we did the job by the words, “A job worth doing is worth doing well.” We were being taught responsibility and helped to begin developing character in becoming dependable in what we did. Our parents wanted us to become people who could be given a task, knowing it would be done and done WELL. Not haphazardly. Not in a way merely to get by.
But completed in an adequate manner.
When God created the world and all the life within it, it was good. All that He planned worked WELL as long as mankind followed His commands. When Jesus came, how was what He did noted by those who were willing to accept? When His power was displayed in His actions, its completeness was noted.
This morning as I was reading through the seventh chapter of Mark, the following statement caught my attention.
“And they were astonished beyond measure, saying, ‘HE HAS DONE ALL THINGS WELL. He even makes the deaf hear and the mute speak.’” ( Mark 7:37 ESV)
God has done “all things WELL!” Our Lord exhibited the same character in all He has done! If we are to live godly lives -- being of Christ-like character -- then we ought to also strive to do “all things WELL!”
What kind of character is being revealed in our life? What are we doing?
Is it worth doing? Then it is worth doing WELL. Let us follow the example of our Lord and do it all to the glory of His Name. (note Colossians 3:17) This is one way in which we can follow on in His steps. And by living such we can look forward to hearing the words, “WELL done!” ( Matthew 25:21)
Have a great day WORKING TO THE GLORY OF GOD!
