Good Advice!
When it comes to advice, would we rather give it than receive it? Is it surprising to find that many who generously dish it out are not very open to receiving the advice offered to them? Perhaps it is because (as someone has
suggested) “The trouble with good advice is that it usually interferes with your plans.” [source: bulletin clipping]
Solomon exhorted…
“(20) LISTEN TO ADVICE AND ACCEPT INSTRUCTION, that you may gain wisdom in the future. (21) Many are the plans in the mind of a man, but IT IS THE PURPOSE OF THE LORD THAT WILL STAND.” ( Proverbs 19:20-21 ESV)
God has plans for us and we need to be mindful of what might be interfering with HIS PLANS. How much we desire to be a part of HIS PLANS will determine how ready we will be to accept His counsel. Since it is the “the purpose of the Lord” that is ultimately going to stand, isn’t it advisable to make sure we don’t make any plans that would interfere with what He has in mind for us?
May we remain open to the counsel of God’s Word, seeking to understand and see clearly HIS PLANS that have been established for our life now and for eternity. Since He is good ( Luke 18:19), so is His advise. Drop an “o” from “good advice” and we have “God advice.” He gives the best! Let us take it!
Have a great day ALLOWING GOD’S PURPOSE TO PREVAIL IN OUR LIFE!
