Examples!

Whatever it might be that we are trying to illustrate or describe to someone, there is probably an example that can be drawn from life. We are surrounded by examples; some good and some bad. There are people who claim they don’t want to be an example. The problem is that one can’t help being an example. People watch. People are influenced. People will follow…something. Perhaps we might even be struck by the fact some people will follow after just about anything!

Everyone of us is an example of one sort or another. The real questions is -- of what? What kind of example is our life? Whether we lead as a good or a bad example there is someone who is likely to follow us. So -- WHERE are we leading?

Solomon stated…
“WHOEVER HEEDS INSTRUCTION IS ON THE PATH TO LIFE, but HE WHO REJECTS REPROOF LEADS OTHERS ASTRAY.” ( Proverbs 10:17 ESV)

It would be godly instruction Solomon had in mind that places one on the path to life. Do we continue to be open to the instruction we need? To ignore God’s direction will ultimately leave us in a position to wander and WHERE we wander others will likely follow.

Bottom line, we must realize that some of our choices impact more than our own selves. Just like when we drive a car we have the responsibility for the lives of everyone in that car, so it is when others have looked at us as being in the “driver’s seat” as they follow our example. May we keep God in the “driver’s seat” of our own life so that those who follow will be lead in His direction.
