Character of His Word! (Part 2 of 5)
David wrote…
“(7) The LAW OF THE LORD IS PERFECT, reviving the soul; the TESTIMONY OF THE Lord is SURE, making wise the simple; (8) the PRECEPTS OF THE LORD ARE RIGHT, rejoicing the heart; the COMMANDMENT OF THE LORD IS PURE, enlightening the eyes; (9) the fear of the LORD is clean, enduring forever; the RULES OF THE LORD ARE TRUE, and RIGHTEOUS ALTOGETHER. (10) More to be desired are they than gold, even much fine gold; sweeter also than honey and drippings of the honeycomb.” ( Psalm 19:7-10 ESV)
God’s Word: perfect, sure, right, pure, true, and completely righteous.
Is that not the very essence of God Himself? And for that to be so, how could His Word be otherwise? But did you note the impact His perfect, sure, right, pure, true and righteous Word can have in our life?
In contrasting gold with the Word of God, we should recognize that gold can become corrupted and lose its value. Wealth is not the PERFECT solution in all situations. Money cannot buy everything. It cannot buy true love. It cannot purchase health. It cannot obtain eternal life. With riches there is limited value or lasting power. And our life can be COMPLETE without ever owning even a single ounce of gold.
Consider the PERFECT or COMPLETE character of God’s Word. It is just what we need relating to life now and eternity. What God has revealed pertains to both life and godliness. ( 2 Peter 1:3) God has provided His Word to bring COMPLETENESS to our life. The Creator of life knew we needed His Word to go along with it. Without His Word our life will not be COMPLETE.
David pointed to God’s PERFECT Word as that which has the power to bring REVIVAL TO OUR SOUL. James pointed out that God’s Word, planted within our life, is “able to save [our] souls.” ( James 1:21) That is a COMPLETE REVIVAL that only God can provide.
Man’s laws sometimes create chaos and court battles. It often seems the more words there are to man’s regulations, the more loopholes some seem to find. God’s laws are PERFECT. And if we want to strive for His essence we need to focus on and submit to them.
Have a great day ALLOWING GOD TO BRING HIS COMPLETENESS TO OUR LIFE!
Carl
