Character of His Word! (Part 1 of 5)
The potential for the impact of rules and regulations depends on our openness to them, as well as the character they themselves possess. If the character or essence is not good, how can good be expected to be instilled in those who would accept them? But if the character or essence is virtuous, that same character and essence should be stimulated in those who PURSUE THEM.
David wrote…
“(7) The LAW OF THE LORD IS PERFECT, reviving the soul; the TESTIMONY OF THE LORD is SURE, making wise the simple; (8) the PRECEPTS OF THE LORD ARE RIGHT, rejoicing the heart; the COMMANDMENT OF THE LORD IS PURE, enlightening the eyes; (9) the fear of the LORD is clean, enduring forever; the RULES OF THE LORD ARE TRUE, and RIGHTEOUS ALTOGETHER. (10) More to be desired are they than gold, even much fine gold; sweeter also than honey and drippings of the honeycomb.” ( Psalm 19:7-10 ESV)
To be desired more than gold are the commands of God. Do we understand the contrast? Do we acknowledge the true essence of God’s Word and the great potential it has to impact our daily lives? It is our PURSUIT? Or are we going for the gold? James pointed out that the rich fade away in the midst of their PURSUITS. ( James 1:11) If we want life that is lasting, it needs to be based upon that which is eternal.
Join with me over the next few days as we (Lord Willing) consider four characteristics of God’s Word and their impact on our life in contrast to what gold may have to offer. Let us be certain our LIFE PURSUIT is properly focused.
Have a great day BANKING LIFE ON THE ETERNAL!
