Bowing To!

How often have we watched a television program or movie where the focus centered on a jury deliberating a verdict for a trial, wanting so much to get their job over with, but one juror refused to see things as the rest of the group. They had all heard the same testimony, listened to the cross examination of witnesses, and seen all the same evidence presented. But as the task of deciding guilt or innocence was begun, everyone except one saw it the same way. Then the PRESSURE was turned on to try to sway the lone juror to give in and get it over with. Discussion took place, a vote was taken, and still the one juror stood alone. More PRESSURE was applied. Frustration was made evident. It might have become easier to cave in and go along with the rest. But the lone juror really believed they were right regardless of what the others said. Was it stubbornness? Was it pride? Was it principle?

God knows the PRESSURE others can place on us to conform to their wishes or points of view. Even when He gave Israel the Law, God warned regarding going against that which was right and according to truth, regardless of what others did or said.

We read…
“(1)You shall not spread a false report. You shall not join hands with a wicked man to be a malicious witness. (2) You shall NOT FALL IN WITH THE MANY to do evil, nor shall you bear witness in a lawsuit, SIDING WITH THE MANY, so as to pervert justice, (3) nor shall you be partial to a poor man in his lawsuit.” ( Exodus 23:1-3 ESV)

The majority are not always right. The majority do not always want what God wants. We are to be careful not to bow to the PRESSURE. To say “But everyone’s doing it” may be cause alone to steer away from it.

Remember Jesus warned by use of a contrast…
“(13) Enter by the narrow gate. For the gate is wide and the way is easy that leads to destruction, and those who enter by it are MANY. (14) For the gate is narrow and the way is hard that leads to life, and those who find it are FEW.” ( Matthew 7:13-14 ESV)

We are not to take the easy way, but rather the RIGHT WAY. We are to guard against simply going with the flow of those around us. We are to bow to God, not to the PRESSURES of the world.

Have a great day STANDING FIRM FOR WHAT IS RIGHT!
